Improve Your Salon Visibility

Improve your salon visibility - Check these 5 things.
Whether you do your job with passion, love for the industry or simply to bring home the bread, all of us salon entrepeneurs need customers. Customer engagement is of course very important, but before that you need to make sure that customers can find you.
5 point checklist for salon visibility
When building a house, you don't start from the roof. Same thing applies to salon marketing. First, make sure that you have taken care of these 5 basic steps for marketing.
#1 Can your salon be found on Google Maps?
If you write your salon address on Google Maps, is your salon visible on the map? If not, don't wait to add your salon information right away.
Here's how to add your business information to Google Maps:
1. Log in to Google Maps on your computer.
2. Search for your company address.
3. Under the search bar click "Add your business".
4. Fill in your business information as instructed.
#2 Check your contact information and opening hours
Have you ever been in a hurry, trying to buy something, just to notice that the business is closed? That's a huge bummer. Check your company contact information and opening hours regularly. Be sure to inform any differing opening hours on Google Maps. Don't make assumptions. A customer can think your business is open, regardless if it's a holiday, if Google says so. Differing opening hours can quickly be informed on Google Maps, even on a phone.
#3 Where do your customers come from?
When a new customer enters your salon for the first time, ask them how they heard about your salon. You don't need a fancy form or an app for this. You can simply set aside a notebook for this purpose. Remember to write down different customer sources like Google, Facebook, friend recommendation or perhaps a leaflet. Put a mark below whenever that source is mentioned. Check this notebook regularly to see how customers are truly finding you. This way you can know which channels are bringing you the most customers, and which need a little more tuning.
#4 Salon email marketing
Are you sending customer newsletters? Or do you feel like there's not enough time? Whichever it is, give all of your customers an opportunity to subscribe to your newsletter. Even if you can't focus on sending any newsletters at the moment, this list is a gold mine. Why? Even if you send your first newsletter a year or two later, it has a way bigger impact, if you already have 300 or so subscribers.
#5 Salon social media
Does your salon have a social media account? If yes, make sure it has all the correct information. If no, get one. And if posting feels like a hard work and time assuming, take a step back and think about your goals. Don't you you have to post every day, but rather think a good pace for you self and mark it down on your calendar. Regularity beats quantity.
Here's how to make a moths work of posts in an hour:
1. Use the first 10 minutes to come up with a plan. If you choose 4 post topics, you'll have a post for each week. Choose the subjects based on your services or products, like a spring facial, new nail polish colors, gift cards and your favorite products presentation. Remember to write these ideas down.
2. Spend 20 minutes on photo shooting. For 4 posts, it makes 5 minutes each.
3. Next 20 minutes. Write down short texts of your posts in your phone memo. This way you can simply copy the text and paste it onto your post. Remember, the texts don't need to be long. Try to answer in these questions: What? Why? How?
4. The last 10 minutes is enough for actual posting. You can schedule your posts beforehand or you can pick the days and mark them down on your calendar. When photos and texts are all set, the posting is very easy and quickly done!
